History
NEBRIN is a Dutch association that was founded during my time at Nieuw Ontwerp and looked to us for a visual identity and website.
My job was to translate sketches of a logo design to Illustrator and translate that logo to a website.
Research
Looking back at the visual identity of NEBRIN as well as the structure of the current website – I found the following:
Visual Identity
NEBRIN’s logo is used on a variaty of websites (members of the association), these websites all use their own colours and styling which often means they post a black or white version of our logo, making it lose the ‘glow effect’ which is one of the few things that the logo has going for it. NEBRIN also uses a dark blue purple-ish colour as primary and no secondary colours making the website and visuals feel very monotone.
Flow of the website
The website’s front pageopens with a small heroheader followed by multiple rows of plain text only to get end with a list of members, all with different sized logos floating in a gray background. Two types of consumers use the website – companies that want to join NEBRIN and consumers trying to find a company that’s associated, neither of them have a clear direction and neither get pulled in by the website’s layout.
My take
Reshaping the visual identity
The new NEBRIN logo is brought down to a textlogo with an alternate E and the signature ‘roof’. Less variations in stroke widths allow for better scaling and removing the blue colour ensures every and all members of NEBRIN can use the logo without it breaking their own visual style. This also means the website and other designs can use brighter colours and tailor to the type of content – making the brand more versatile.
